Qualified barristers can act directly for members of the public without going through a solicitor. This is often a direct, beneficial and cost-effective method of reviewing whether or not litigation will be necessary.
Barrister can also accept instructions on a licensed access bases which allows organisations or individuals that have an identifiable area of expertise or experience to be licenced and instruct barristers directly. Barristers are regulated by the Bar Standards Board and its Code of Conduct which also covers Public Access Rules.
