Christopher Sykes resisted £400k Account Forfeiture Orders
Christopher Sykes represented a company and its director after its business and personal bank accounts were frozen.
The relevant law enforcement authority sought forfeiture of the entirety of the frozen funds, some £400,000, and claimed the respondents ought to pay its legal costs. It adopted a robust approach as it considered the underlying business activities of the company as wholly unlawful
Over the course of 12 months, Christopher worked closely with his instructing solicitors and filed detailed legal submissions and engaged in protracted negotiations. These resulted in the release of 90% of the frozen funds with each side agreeing to bear its own costs.
Christopher was instructed by Marlon Grossman and David Bloom of Sonn Macmillan Walker.
